Puppet Making
There is nothing like a hands-on learning experience. By making puppets and learning puppet performance kids can explore all facets of artistic expression. They can work in two and three dimensions, explore creative writing, and present it all by acting, dancing and singing.

Workshops are always customized to the age of the children, the time available and the goals of the presenter. Below are some basic examples. Ask about creating a special workshop just for your group.
Basic Workshop
Students create an original, one of a kind construction paper puppet like the one shown above. maybe without the mustache. The youngest children each get a pre-made blank puppet and a grab-bag of abstract cut-out shapes that they can glue on to create their puppet's face. Kids old enough to use scissors will learn how to build this simple puppet head from scratch.

Performance Workshop
Let your students really bring their puppets to life. They'll begin by creating puppet characters from a favorite fairy tale, sharpen their skills with fun improvisational games and end the day with a performance for parents and younger children.
Ages: 5 and up Time: Full Day Price: $130 for up to 25 students
Extended Residency
Take the construction and performance workshops and build on them over a number of visits. Students can write their own play and create more elaborate puppets. We'll also get into more in-depth acting and puppet manipulation skills.
Ages: 6 and up Time: Varies Price: $100 per day up to 25 students
Junk Puppets
Start with a pile of toilet paper tubes, bottle caps and cereal boxes and end up with puppets saved from the scrap-heap.
Ages: 7 and up Time: 2hrs Price: $100 for up to 25 students

Learn how to conduct all the workshops above and more. We'll talk about how you can add puppets to your curriculum for absolutely any subject. Yes, you even get to make your own puppets to take home. Bring your notebooks because this session will be packed with information.
